All songs were recorded by Michael Lewis during a field trip to Surinam in 1987 1988, funded by Leiden University. Except song 06A which he recorded in The Hague. Birah is the hollering (cast) song of North Indian cowherds who migrated around 1900 to Surinam and continued the oral tradition. Comes in an embossed cover with 3 postcards and inlay.
